EAST-IN SIG (East Coast Special Interest Group)

PURPOSE
To form a focus group for information specialists in the East Coast/Hawkes Bay Region.
To conduct continuing education for information professionals.

Membership

Membership is open to all Librarians in the East Coast Region of the North Island.
Membership is $10 per annum.
LIANZ Membership is not a requirement, but desirable.

5.Organisation, retrieval, preservation, and conservation of information
Enable information access and use through application of systematic and user-centred description, categorisation, storage and retrieval.
Understand the principles of preservation and conservation, and when and how they are applied, including digital preservation.
Design systems which enable the storage, description and retrieval of information.

This can be achieved by:
Cataloguing; maintaining the databases; information files;
Accessing digital resources such as Time Frames, Papers Past, Matapihi etc.
Preserving and storing archival photographs manuscripts and other relevent material
digitising photographs, documents and other material.
Attending workshops, conferences etc will also count.
