Description: Copyright law is something that affects all librarians in every type of library, and is an integral element in the Body of Knowledge which professional librarians must have. The implementation of the Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act 2008 provides an opportunity for us to find out what is included in the Amendment Act and how its provisions will affect our work, and also to brush up on all aspects of copyright law since the Copyright Act was passed in 1994. Time is running out! The transition scheme finishes in June 2009 - so don't let anxiety about revalidation put you off! Help is at hand.
This session will give practical guidance on filling in your journal and identifying activities that comply with the various areas of the Body of Knowledge.

Library Week, 18-24 August is a week long celebration of libraries and librarianship in New Zealand taking place in libraries all across the country.
Library Week has been going for over 35 years and is a chance to learn more about the many services libraries offer and to celebrate the important role they play in your community.
This year the Library Week theme is 'What's Your Story?' and you can tell us your stories via the activities and competitions for all ages on this website.

Waipukurau Library Manager, Janette Birdsall, recently returned from the UK where she accepted an 8 month librarian exchange to Oxford Central Library. This exchange provided Janette with a new professional experience where she gained skills and knowledge while able to enjoy the personal enrichment that comes from contact with another culture. Come along and hear about Janette’s experiences on the other side of the library world.
